Honiton Market Charter day celebrated their Charter Day this year on Saturday 19th July with a fabulous programme all around the town finishing off with a concert by the Honiton Town Band at the Millennium Green in the Evening.

Honiton Carers Support Group was the Charter Day Committee’s chosen charity for the year, much to our delight.

We naturally had a stand there ourselves as we have had for the last ten years and everyone enjoyed the day. Our volunteers came out in large numbers woman the stand and we would like to thank them all for their strong support.

The community supported us by participating in the bottle stall, buying donated items, buying Rotary Lottery tickets, the children enjoyed the lucky dips and we had Badge Making available to them too.

We named the Elephant, and as no one guessed her pre chosen name of Helen, our second pre chosen name which was Nellie became the winning name. It was guessed by 5 people, so a draw was made between them and the winner was co-carer Gina Daley who is thrilled with her beautiful Elephant, which was made and donated by ex-carer Val Lloyd.

A very successful day altogether, with the total takings on our stand of £ 380.50. We are still expecting a donation from the Charity Commission from the profits of the day, which will enable us to carry on doing the very necessary work we do within the community by supporting unpaid Carers and their families in throughout their caring journey and beyond.
