YELLOW DAY ON THE MARKET ON SATURDAY 20TH JUNE 2026
What a lovely Yellow Day we had at Honiton Market. It was heaving at one point and the atmosphere was just great. A huge thank you to Stella, Lorraine, Lisa, Sue East, Christine Goodwill, Sylvia & Miriam, for volunteering, we really appreciate your support. We had a very successful day. Catherine our volunteer sitter had donated a beautiful Quilt specially for today, which we raffled. People were constantly admiring her work saying it was made to perfection. Catherine also donated 4 beautifully quilted cushions all in the yellow theme of course. The winning numbers 228 was pulled out of the bag by Mark Rich who is the founder of Honiton Business Network with his lovely mother holding the bag. The lucky winner is Sarah Kerslake. A huge thank you to the community for supporting us today. It was lovely to see so many people there. I hope you all enjoyed the atmosphere of the market, which was quite special.

Offwell Fete Saturday 27th June 2026
Excellent fete at Offwell today.
It was very well organised with a superb programme in the rink all afternoon and laid out so all the stands could be easily approached and entered without any issues. The Comparer was brilliant again this year, easily heard and understood. We really enjoy coming to Offwell. The lovely Ginger Ice-creams were good too.
Honiton Carers would like to thank the community for supporting us yet again. We displayed a ‘What is it worth to you’? table, a well stocked Tombola and a lovely huge hamper, every single item was donated by our own carers which we are extremely grateful for. The Hamper was won on number 36 by Serena Sexton, Honiton’s Town Mayor who opened the fete today together with her consort, husband Rob Sexton and deputy town Mayor Cathy Maunder.
We are already looking forward to next year, however in the meantime, Honiton Carers will be at Honiton’s Charter Day on Saturday 18th July and at Gittisham’s Fete on Saturday 5th September. We hope to see you all at these events.

Honiton Charter Day, Saturday 18th July 2026
What a wonderful day we had today, brilliant blue sky with a nice breeze.
The stall looked fabulous with our “Carers in Winderland story telling inspired by Alice in Wonderful. The carers have worked so very hard for the last 6 months on the crafts led by Hazel Austin our tutor and her assistant Sue Griffin. We have been making teapots, animals, cards and so much more but only Hazel could visualise what the final result would look like. We were thrilled to bits with the end result as were all the visitors to Charter Day. Sadly not many other stands had made an effort to tell their story so we won first prize for the best dressed stall.
Thank all our volunteers who worked tireless all day in this lovely but hot weather, to the carers for their contributions and donations and of course to the public who visited and supported us today. A lovely day altogether. We already look forward to seeing everyone next year.

Honiton Gate to Plate, Saturday 22nd August 2026
Honiton Carers enjoyed being part of Honiton’s annual Gate to Plate celebrations. We had a great awareness day with a lovely raffle, lucky dips and made badges with the children. All good fun. Signed up two new carers which is brilliant. I hope they make lots of good friends in our lovely group. Thank you to the community for supporting us so well and to all our volunteers who kindly gave up their time on a Saturday to man the stand.

Gittisham Fete, Saturday 5th September 2026
Wonderful afternoon at Gittisham fete today, one of the best fetes ever and very well attended as usual. The lovely weather helped of course to make it the huge success it was. Gittisham is always very welcoming and supportive, the atmosphere is great and we just love chatting to everyone who attends including our lovely Vicar Tracey, Town Crier Caroline and her husband Stephen.
The Fete is brilliantly organised, has a good programme and stalls and is really well advertised both on and off-line. Fabulous Cream teas, cakes and ice creams available what is there not to like?
Honiton Carers had a wonderful afternoon and would like to thank the community for supporting us and being so very generous. We would also like to thank all our volunteers who gave up their time so freely on a lovely Saturday afternoon.
The Wine & Cheese hamper raffle was won by Janet Collis on number 95. Janet is a carer for her husband, who has very recently gone in to full time care.
Gittisham Fete is for us the last Fete of the season, the next fundraising event is likely to be at Christmas.
