I was born in 1950. I am an ex-carer who cared for my then husband, Peter, who died in 2022 with Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinsonian traits. He needed constant care whilst he was at home, I was very lucky that I had the support of our local Admiral Nurse Fay Valentine. Peter’s conditions sadly worsened, he was admitted to the RD&U and from there he went into Sunningdale Carehome on Kings Road in Honiton where he died soon after.
Honiton Carers Support Group and especially Winnie cared for me and my mental health.
I was very lucky meeting Richard a twice widower, and we married in 2024. We are both now focussed on supporting others in similar situations.
