Volunteer, Committee Member

I was born in Arborfield, Berks. where my father was stationed during the war. We moved around a lot, when I married we lived in Essex until 1971 then we moved to Cornwall where all my children were raised. We stayed there until 2016 when we moved to Honiton to be nearer to my 2 daughters who lived in Exeter. I have 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

In 2015 Charles had a fall, broke his hip and the next morning had a massive heart attack so I wasn’t surprised that in 2016 he was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. My eldest daughter saw an advert in the local paper for Honiton Carers and offered to take Wednesday afternoons off so I could attend. In December 2020 my husband had a fatal heart attack 3 days before our 62nd wedding anniversary.

Honiton Carers have been a great help to me during this difficult time, I feel very honoured to have been asked to join the committee.
