CHAIR , Volunteer, Devon Carer Ambassador & Carer

I was born in Denmark in 1944 and came to England in 1963 as an au-pair to learn English but never went back to Iive there. I married my late husband in 1967 and later had two boys Mark & Steven. In 2003 I sadly became a carer for my late husband and later also for my late mother who died in 2009. My husband died in 2014 which is when I offered to be the key holder for the local carers group that had until then been part of Devon Carers but who were no longer receiving funding in their commissioned contract to support the individual carers groups. Nearly 8 years on, I am still here “holding the key”. I also act as Secretary and Treasurer for the group. I am a Devon Carer Ambassador and committee member of both the Admiral Nurse and Honiton Memory Cafe committees.
